About Me

Marius Oberholster Hey! I'm having an incredible learning experience, not only learning how Blender works (yes, still learning), but also about Open-Source and the incredible software available. Stick around!

Hey all!

I hope you're all doing well! I have had covid, if some of you don't know. If you were curious about whether it's real, OH YEAH, it is VERY real, lol, and not pleasant. While being fit does help you A LOT (I have been sicker), it is by no means a protection against it and if you are not, it can kill you much more easily. DO NOT give it that chance. If you're a self-proclaimed couch potato, I really wanna encourage you to just start going for a walk everyday - or find some other physical activity you enjoy - swimming is good too, but limited to warmer times of the year. Follow professional health and fitness advice though, of course I'm not a doctor, but seriously, having been there and being walking fit, it's made THE difference for me.

Okay, so PSA over, lol. Onto the more interesting stuff!

Models from my shot films becoming available!! EEECK!!!

So a lot of you noticed that I've been uploading a lot of short videos lately, demoing models for CGTrader. Here's my fav video to date - so elegant!!:

Those are all models by yours truly, and they are now available for purchase! SO COOL!
I hate how artificial that sounds, LOL, because it's not, I really am excited about it, hehe.

I've watched some short films and wanted to use the models they were using (such as that bot thing from Tears Of Steel), but could never for a boatload of possible reasons (most were financial or connection limits related).
   With this in mind:
 - I have converted and made some available already
 - In as many formats as possible!
 - For as good a price as possible!
 - Still very affordable!
 - All opted in for offers and discounts!
 - WOW!, lol

Basically doing everything short of giving them all away for free, LOL, to make access just that much easier.

For convenience and making sure you guys actually know about it, I'm making this post and I made A Store Page that directs you to the models on CGTrader or you can follow the link to my store there.

New access points

I'm now on Pixabay (wha'?!), Blendswap (again Wha'?! lol), Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn as well! My portfolio site was converted to be my VO website. Man, that thing was ugly! I literally built it in a day to just have it online, but wow, it annoyed me from day one, so I took to redesigning it when it got on my last nerve and now it looks stunning! Still wanna swap out some of the demos, but that White Fang one on the home page is just so freakin' awesome!!!

Here it is:

You can find my social media accounts here:
YouTube, Facebook, BlendSwap, Pixabay, LinkedIn, Instragram, Twitter, SoundCloud

Yeah, it's a lot, hahahaha. My YT channel has a community page too! Because it is so much, I generally post the same things on every platform, adapted to the platform, so I can be active on all of them without burning out. If you wanna connect on these, like joining my network and having me join yours, feel free to add me - the worst possible thing I could do is say no, lol. I'm not some mean spirited jerkface that's gonna scold you because you said hi! lol. "WHO ARE YOU?! WHAT DO YOU WANT?!" hahaha. Seriously though, feel free to say hi! :)

Tutorials

I have not stopped wanting to make tutorials. In fact, I did one a few months back about the adoration sparkles and I still have a laundry list of videos I wanna do. Just a bit tight financially right now, so everything I do has to go into that sort of stuff and that means I don't get to work on my own desired projects as much... (sigh), if only my models sold better [looks for reaction], (sigh) (sigh), LOL!!! I work on them weekends.

Instead of doing the full-on tutorials for now, I am trying to post tips on my social media to help you guys with your own marketing and getting your stuff in front of the people that need to see it!

Got one up a few days ago about who you're marketing to, so let's expand on that!

Whenever you upload something to your social media with a specific goal in mind, you need to make sure that it's getting out to the right people. Now, let's take the models as an example. 3D models do not sell a lot very fast. It's a numbers game and a waiting game - just like any other field tbh, lol.

What you need to do, is to figure out: "Who needs to use this content?" "Why do they need it?" and "What tools do I have available to get it to them?" - you can add sales questions after these as well.

Sticking with the models. 3D models are not for the general public. They have NO use for them at all. We're not talking about people who are learning 3D here, because I'll get to them in a bit, but we are talking the average person walking down the street. They are cleaners, accountants, firefighters, secretaries, CEO's, car salesman, teachers, etc. They don't care, lol. My target market would be CG students, small studios, big studios and hobbyists (told you we'd get to them).
"Why do they need it?" will help you phrase your message. When you approach it with such a sales-driven question, its easy to get caught up in that whole "buy my stuff cause you need it" vibe and, honestly, with more inbound forms of marketing (ie people coming to you), that's not going to give you the results you're looking for. It will give you a starting point.

I could tell you: "It's gonna save you time, money and effort" which it will, but let's make it a smidge more friend oriented. "I have put this together, because I want to help you get your work done faster and easier. It won't even cost you as much as other ways have in the past. Let me help your project blow people's minds in a fraction of the time!"
Okay, a little too much, but it's much more enticing, isn't it?! lol. When you plan a social media campaign, you would get these things figured out first and then create content around that, so that you run with the 80-20 approach at first - 80% value content (tips, experiences, pictures, etc.) and 20% marketing content (sales, service, products available, etc.). The trick is to make your marketing posts feel like a friend vs "I'm tryin'a sell ya this." Why? Because inbound marketing is very much about building a relationship with your customers, no being a parasite on the back of society, LOL. Like the above example, you have to make it personal to you and the person you're serving. You've built some relationship wth your other posts - assuming you didn't just ignore real comments, tags and dm's. That builds a desire for your audience to want to support you - give them that chance and make it as easy as possible.

And that's where I leave it for now! hehehe.

Speaking of value content - I still have my nodegroups up for free as well as the NPR shaders - some of which you can also now get, for free, on BlendSwap, along with other AWESOME stuff, that is also free! Did I mention it's free? LOL.

And of course, for those who'd like to support my work and have some fun, and save time with my models, you know where my CGTrader be at!

I hope you guys have a super awesome day!!

GOD bless you!!! (^^,)
