About Me

Marius Oberholster Hey! I'm having an incredible learning experience, not only learning how Blender works (yes, still learning), but also about Open-Source and the incredible software available. Stick around!

3D in Blender using only one render

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Friday, July 13, 2012 Under: Tutorials
Last night before I went to bed inspiration hit and I just had to try and get this to work right and I tried and tried and tried until 'bout half past eleven and then I saw the render was just not working. No matter what combination of nodes I tried, it just wouldn't work, however, I knew it was possible.

So this morning after getting up and turning on my PC I just had to keep trying again and I think I finally have a good result in not only color mixing, but also overall depth. This is not perfect and can definitely be improved, but I like it so far:

(the video is a better example)

I also uploaded a video that you can download and watch it, using this link
(it's an OGG file and like the above you need Red/Cyan glasses to view it)

This will be my next free tutorial, so keep them eyes this space, lol.

Just as a note, this tutorial should be sound for creating full-color side-by-side as well, which I really should include, but since I can't really test it without possible royalties hanging over my head, it is only a maybe at this time.

When I release it, feel free to build on and improve it (^^,).

Obviously the color mix can be improved and this method isn't perfect, but this really works (still need to test it on a complex scene though).

Thank YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS, This should also work with cycles, because it works with a finished scene, not a specific render engine.
