About Me

Marius Oberholster Hey! I'm having an incredible learning experience, not only learning how Blender works (yes, still learning), but also about Open-Source and the incredible software available. Stick around!

A world mapping tip.

Posted by Marius Oberholster on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 Under: Tutorials
In the new Blender releases, there are a few bugs, one of which is a mapping issue in Blender Render, aka Blender Internal BI), that prevents any procedural textures (and possibly images), from sticking to the world. Global mapping responds exactly the same as View mapping, which means if your camera moves, your texture moves with it (not very realistic at all).

So as I was seeing the problem (knowing this error was in the tutorial), I had no clue as to what to do and HE gave me a brilliant solution: map the world to an object in the center of the world (preferably a sphere, but I think other shapes may work as well).

If you use Cycles, you don't need to worry, because this bug is only limited to Blender Render aka BI (tested it yesterday).

PS, the tutorial was updated with this method, so it was corrected. You can order via the contact page (remember that you have to be able to receive files of at least 15 MB and to include the e-mail address where I am to send it to). No e-mail addresses will be used for spamming, for marketing, for sale or published.

Thank you for reading! Hope it helped!

Thank YOU especially for showing me what to do! YOUR guidance is always spot-on!
