About Me

Marius Oberholster Hey! I'm having an incredible learning experience, not only learning how Blender works (yes, still learning), but also about Open-Source and the incredible software available. Stick around!

An update on the book

Hey all!

Working hard to get it finished as soon as possible! The next section will be tutorials and after that a few more things and it should be ready for release! So looking forward to having it completed and I have really learned a huge amount in the writing of it!

Today was a continuation of the displacement feature for Cycles. After getting this result, it was very important to find out how to fix it:

(the texture is not supposed to be a lot of thin blu stripes over a square sun's surface, lol)

Finally, after a lot of assistance from HIM and a lot of work, I finally got the following result:

(much better, but not exact due to size changes to the shape itself)

I really tried getting it to be exactly like the untouched cube (untouched by displacement), but the values above and below the ones I used for the above, would only make it worse, lol. This was the closest I could come today. In the book it explains how to not only get the displacement, but also how you can re-size your textures so you don't get left with the first result wondering how to make it work!

Hope you are looking forward to that one and yes, as usual, all procedural textures, all in Blender's official builds!

Have a great one!!

Thank YOU!!!!!!!
