Blossoms

Hey all!

Been almost an entire work week and nothing... tisk tisk, lol. No kidding. I'm sure you are all gonna luv this one and it includes a bit of a wallpaper that you can use as well.

Today's is about Andrew's latest tutorial on Cherry Blossoms. Absolutely beautiful stuff!

Even though it is an amazing tutorial and I still need to finish watching it, I really adore the slide version he adds these days below the video. Never replaces story time though :) !

Also, I wanted to take it further than purely an image. I wanted more impact, so I made an entire tree full of blossoms, but made quite a few changes:
- Used the tree generator
- Used only his textures as reference (everything is procedural in the scene)
- Used his reference pics and only later saw I need another level of branches
- Did a major change in composition
(I still very much adore Andrew's render and skill).

But, on mine, a friend even asked if mine was a photo and that really made my day!!! Bear in mind, they saw the image on my phone. It's much more obvious on the PC that it's CG.

So, on starting this one, I worked off of the slide tutorial and missed a step or two (not his fault, that's mine for not reading properly, lol). I also messed up the particle placement for the flowers and the whole result was just off:

As you can see, some branches are sticking through some of the flowers and it just looks terribly lazy overall... So, I changed the approach a bit and added the blossoms in a different way:

As you can tell, it is a major improvement on what was the previous, but if you look in he background, you'll find the one blossom is literally stuck inside the branch, lol. This meant that while I was fairly happy with the new particles, I needed to add the stem:

As it sat here, I was happy overall. Very little issues for me and I was even thrilled at this render, but not quite done yet. I was looking for something with more background and found a good spot on the edge of the tree and re-rendered for the final:

And that was that. A great final with some successful and some not so successful experiments along the way. Very thankful for the final result and I hope you enjoy it as well!!

Thank YOU!!!!!!!!!
