Hey all!
I got the chance to work on the book again Saturday. This time on the flag tutorial and I am very very excited about the results so far!
I am still working on animation, but for static images the tutorial is about a page from finished. I want to include animation as this tutorial will then truly set the tutorial apart in proving that you can do a lot with procedural textures.
So far the tutorial covers how to use them with certain modifiers:
- Subdivision Surface (making the displacement possible)
- Wave (adding cycle movement detail)
Remember that this was the before:
(looks okay, but only from afar)
Without further ado, this is what the current progress of the flag looks like:
(they still need rope, so they are currently wireless, lol)
Hope you are looking forward to the book's release as much as I am. Currently, I am still working on the first part (with the completion of the flag tutorial, I can move on to next part), so I don't have a date for you yet, but I can tell you that I am very much looking forward to telling you as soon as I have one (^^,).
Remember that the above (including the flags themselves) were made with procedural textures.
For construction and color on the SA flag, I used
this PD image and
this Wikipedia page.
For the French flag, I used where I've seen it before all together with common sense that if something is divided in three, it's usually three equal parts and since 100/3=33.33333', I used such to make it.
I'll keep you posted on how the animation is going, with the plan of publishing a video showing the effecassy of procedural textures. The animation as I believe HE showed me to do it, will require some advanced work with the Graph Editor, so I am really excited about sharing that too. It will definitely surprise some of you!!
Have a great day everyone!!
Thank YOU very very much for showing me how to not only improve the flags, but how to go beyond in making it exceptional. I really appreciate all YOUR help JESUS!
