About Me

Marius Oberholster Hey! I'm having an incredible learning experience, not only learning how Blender works (yes, still learning), but also about Open-Source and the incredible software available. Stick around!

Free wallpaper today, yey!

Hey all!

Didn't get any requests for this one, but I believe HE wants it shared. So, here it is. I had to modify it a bit, because the single mountain landscape, just didn't cut it. I added a few more and some mist as well as a few other things, but I really wanted to add as much photographic qualities as I possibly could to just give it that bit of a boost, including a vignette (it is that bright spot in the middle of most photos). Because this is a very bright scene, the appearance thereof will be small, but when the image is viewed like below, it is much more prominent. So there is that, along with some lens distortion, dispersion, etc, and a whole bunch of other effects and things to add just that bit extra. Here is a low-res version of the image:

(This one was rendered at 50 samples with Cycles Render)

You can download a FullHD version here.

Hope you like it, I certainly do, especially the sense of scale this one has. Not quite the feeling I wanted it to evoke, but quite close, imo.

Just to quickly give credit where credit is due. HE reminded me of what I think was Andrew Price's one tutorial where he very briefly showed his vignette effect (don't recall which one it was, sorry). It is quite simple, you use lens distortion to the max on the depth map in a mix node that nullifies it, yet still give the compositor something to work with and then you blur that relatively. The result you use with a mix node to multiply over your original image and there you have it.

The other was the mist effect he add in his How To Create A City tutorial, using the depth map. Was a fantastic trick and was really handy here. Though I didn't go an watch it again for the effect, it was where I saw it first and HE helped me apply it.

Thank YOU!!!!!
