About Me

Marius Oberholster Hey! I'm having an incredible learning experience, not only learning how Blender works (yes, still learning), but also about Open-Source and the incredible software available. Stick around!

New method working right!!!!!!!!

HE showed me how to remove the ghosting almost completely!!!!!

I am super excited to let you all in on this! Earlier today, I was busy with the 3D tutorial again and trying very hard to figure out what the problem was with the new method video in the previous post. It just seemed so flat, as though the 3D and shards were on a flat surface, suspended in mid-air. And after much fiddling with the system and trying to see what outputs look how where, HE pointed me to the Depth Map. So I looked at it and it was almost all black on the objects, which clearly showed that there would be no variation in such an instance.

So through trial and error and a lot of grace, I found a good value, so the depth map has variation between all the objects, giving a good result, but also adding a good map value, so the initial distortion, does not cause drag on your one eye (which was a huge problem in the beginning with this new method).

But, still there was an issue as the ghosting was still a huge problem and I know HIS leading did it, as Isaiah 30:21 describes it: you will hear a voice behind you saying that this is the you should walk in (paraphrased to avoid copyright issues). You can find the whole verse here.

Anyway, this was the initial great result of that leading:

A fantastic result (imo)!!!!!

And this is the final reveal of the leading:

I wanted the Vector Blur in there as well, because animation does need that blur and although I had to define a max, it did come out very well imo.

I'm sure with some adjustment, and it applied to a different scene, we can truly test how far this method will go. In fact, I've tried it on some cubes stacked with the array modifier and it really does show this method's limitation when it comes to detailed scenes, but I am still very very pleased with the result and as mentioned before, it is built for speed, not total 100% accuracy (though I really did hope for it).

As you can tell, there is still minor ghosting, but very very very little, especially compared with the previous results:
 - To see the first result in action, you can download and watch this.
 - To see the second result with Vector Blur in action, you can download and watch this.
As always it's Ogg video.

Remember that all this was done similarly to the tutorial and still only using a single render. I very much plan on making a new tutorial outlining this method as well.

Thank YOU very very very very very much for giving this to me to pass on, JESUS!! I really really appreciate it!!!
