RUN

Hey all!

Most of you know I use Make Human to make characters in an anime style and I really really like the program. Well, they recently, like as in June 2015, started hosting competitions. Nothing fancy, but it's a nice way to push yourself to actually finish something and do something with what you've learned. So, I've entered for June and I'm also entering for July. Just for the sake of posting it, here is my July Entry - the theme word is Action:

If it weren't obvious yet, the name of the piece is RUN! hahaha. I'll be really honest with you guys here and say that I was working on this character in faith - I had NO clue what he was going to end up looking like or what he was going to be doing for an action scene! So anyway, GOD showed me a few options and the one that was the final push was for a running character that was running towards the camera with action being the focus. I didn't want to really go for it, because I wasn't quite sure that would be the final choice, but when I told my mom I didn't know what to do with him, guess what was brought to my mind, so I went with the running man, haha.

I did run into a few snags and GOD lead me through each one and I am super jazzed with the result. To name a few things:
- Crates looked flat: When I initially rendered the image, the crates looked very flat - as if it were a textured plane made to look like some crates were falling. No strong shadows, it was just bland. But, GOD reminded me of the Z pass and I was then able to use that to fake some shadows, since the crates fall forward.
- Motion blur fail: Because this is an image, I wasn't going to get motion from the character and the crates, despite their speed, were not producing adequate motion blur, HE lead me to directional blur, but specifically the zoom function. HE said to put it at his feet, but I wanted to try it on the center - didn't work at all. I tried also to mix it using add, overlay and all the usual suspects, but only Darken gave the proper results.
- Weird lines: With freestyle, you don't always know what you're gonna get. The mesh may look great in 3D, but that does not equate a great 2D result. I wanted him to be comical at first - didn't work. I wanted him to be serious - didn't work. Now he's just focused and that really does work! haha. Some leading from GOD is not as verbal as I would like it to be, it's what some translations describe as feeling after HIM and it means HE produces some great results through these hands :D.

Anyhow, I hope that gives you guys some insight into this entry and if you don't know JESUS, please, check out this page! It is a matter of eternity.

Have a truly great one!!
GOD bless!
