About Me

Marius Oberholster Hey! I'm having an incredible learning experience, not only learning how Blender works (yes, still learning), but also about Open-Source and the incredible software available. Stick around!

The difference

Hey peoples!

During a tutorial I found that in some cases, it is actually better (and faster) to use physical detail than it is to use textures.

It works a bit like this:
____________________________________________________
small object------>------>------>------>------>------>---Big object
physical>physical>physical<mix>texture>texture>texture

So when you are doing something like trees or bushes, try physical detail first and see if that works for you.

Here is a mix of physical detail and textures:

Porch area of a very cubey house, showing that you can even mix the two methods in a single piece to show different plants, and, as an added bonus in this specific part of the book, I also show you how to trim hedges to specific shapes! So simple you are gonna luv it!

Just for clarification:
 - Physical detail:
   - Hedge around the corner of the house
   - Pot plant next to the door
 - Textures
   - Pretty much the whole concrete tile area is textured, especially the big bushes and the in-between-the-tiles grasses

Have a great one!!

Thank YOU!!!!!!!!
